04 July 2022
|Hi again, and thanks again to you all. Thanks for standing with us in prayer. God is working here and we are glad to be part of it. Already it is July, mid winter here and really cold at night.
Bob has been busy preparing Bible studies and messages for preaching, plus visiting, counseling, and encouraging many. Even though the people here are not as hungry for God's Word as they were during the pandemic, there are many new ones coming to meetings here and wanting to follow Christ.
So we are very glad for the freedom we have to teach God's Word. I know I say this about every time but it is really a blessing, as we know that in many countries this is not the case. I do apologize if my last letter sounded too critical of the Spiritual condition of the majority in the U.S. and other places. Again, we pray this freedom will last and we will be able to reach the generation coming up for Christ. Thank you so much for praying with us to that end.
Politically, Perú is in a crisis as well. A strike is planned for tomorrow and on, among the cargo trucks. This will affect our supply of goods and food, fruits and vegetables especially, that come and go from different regions, as the prices are really going up. Fuel costs a lot more these days too. For sure the ongoing war in the Ukraine is a big factor in the price of fuel. So we pray for the end to this horrible war. If the local transportation supports the strike they will close schools and work will be affected negatively. Thanks for helping us pray for peace in this country.
We are in a "4th wave" of covid-19 here. There have been more deaths and many more new cases reported. So we still are required to wear masks and get all the vaccinations. We pray this plague will end. Also we pray we can keep on having school in person. I really am thankful for being able to teach 4th and 5th graders God's Word while I'm still young enough to do so! (Ha, I'm not getting younger, it is going the other way!) Anyway, the kids are so good and love the Bible stories and applications. They are a blessing and are learning the most important lessons in life, we pray.
The youth from the main church here in Arequipa continue with their outreaches to different neighborhoods Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We are really glad for their enthusiasm and efforts in winning kids and parents that are mostly as of yet unchurched. There are a few couples coming out of our youth group. We pray God's perfect leading in these relationships, for purity and future forming of real Christian homes. Several have come to us for counseling.
