HI to you all, there in the summer, hope you had a good fourth of July, the U.S.A needs much prayer. Perú and all countries really need God. We are thankful to our Lord for bringing us back to His work in Perú. We do not know for how long, but for now we have peace with God's leading us here after 4 months in the U.S.
Bob has had 10 chemotherapy infusions and is due for the 11th July 15. He has tolerated them well so far but they do leave him feeling weak for a few days after the session. Bob can still drive and is now in Sibayo, above the Colca canyon, where steady leadership is needed. Some of our youth from here have been teaching the children there but they will turn that work over to 2 sisters from there. Please help us pray for Spiritual men leaders for these towns.
The churches on the coast (Camaná) and in the valley and plains areas have some leaders now but they too need encouragement. We are thankful Bob can still help them. He always takes at least one brother with him to help drive if necessary. So far Bob has been able to drive the whole way, and we are thankful that the roads to most of these places are so much better than when we started here 58 years ago.
Some who want to reconcile with God have come to Bob for help. Most of these are children of believers, some have been baptized but have gotten too involved with cell phones, internet, social media, etc. Satan takes advantage of these gullible folks, using tools like witchcraft and worse, leading to depression, desperation, even suicidal temptation. We are in a Spiritual battle.
Just last week we had a funeral of a young lawyer who used to attend church here, bringing his parents as well. The parents stayed faithful in attendance till the pandemia, but after that did not return. They also had studies with some "Jehovah's Witnesses". The young man was going to get his lawyer licence but was taking a lot of pills for depression. We do not know if his peritonitis was because of an overdose, or just an ulcer, or what, but he got to the hospital too late.
The parents asked Bob to speak at the burial. For believers in Christ this is a blessing, but for those of whom we do not know their final destiny it is difficult. God helped us sing and speak a warning to the family members. God is the perfect judge. So Bob has been very full with ministry for Christ. There still is a lot to do and this world is going downhill fast.
For me it is as always a great blessing to teach God's Word. I have 30 sixth graders for the NT this year. I had them last year in 5th grade for the OT, so I am really glad and blessed to finish the course with them. And yes, this will be the last year for me to be formally teaching in our Ebenezer Christian school.
I started late as we did not get back here till May 6 but these students are attentive and enjoy learning God's Word that we should finish by December. The Peruvian school system is from March till December, we are the opposite of you in the North hemisphere. It is winter here in the south of Peru. Which means it is usually sunny and warm in the daytime, but after sundown around 5:30 p.m. it is cold at night.
